❝Lament, at your own powerlessness. Weep, for there are no heroes to save you!

⠀⠀Rin Inoue was simply an unfortunate child.

⠀⠀Born to a small family in Nagasaki, Japan, he was the only child of Hitomi and Masayoshi Inoue- both having been Pro Heroes in their past. Hitomi had the ability to nullify Quirks by throwing intangible orbs of energy at others, and Masayoshi was able to conjure up misty animals whose form depended on his emotions.

⠀⠀From a young age, Rin was groomed and put on the fast track to become a hero. Masayoshi was a very demanding father, and allowed no breaks nor any leisure time for his young son. From the moment he woke up, the lone scion of the Inoue clan would be subjected to harsh lessons on mastering his Quirk, as well as building up his natural strength and agility. Instructors spend hours drilling complex battle strategies and Quirk manipulation tips into his skull, refusing to let him sleep until he could recite word for word his counter for situations he would encounter as a hero.

⠀⠀Of course, there was only so much a young child like him could handle. On his tenth birthday, he was faced with yet another 'surprise' training session.

⠀⠀For the past six years, every birthday had been substituted with coarse words telling him that due to his age 'the bars had been raised' and 'big kids didn't need breaks'.

Rin's mind snapped.

⠀⠀His mind snapped and his body shut down, unable to handle all of the stress that had been imposed on it. Rin found himself in a hospital for a full month, his body recuperating and finally enjoying the therapy that he so desperately needed. His father simply did not approve of this, seeing this vital medical treatment as 'weakness' and coddling his child. The only reason he didn't snatch Rin away and spirit him back to the family estate was solely because of having possible child negligence charges laid against him.

⠀⠀Though, the moment that Rin was able to be released, Masayoshi took him back in a fury and dragged him to the family crypts.

"You're a disappointment, Rin! Worthless! Garbage! You dishonor our lineage, the heroes who did so much for us!"

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀His mind fled his body, unwilling to deal any longer with this constant abuse.

What emerged from the depths of his mind was a new personality, constructed from Japanese lore and cemented with the built-up resentment and hatred accumulated over years of this 'training'.

❝I am.. Izanami.

The crypt doors were only ten feet behind him, but in the moment that he was confronted with the monster within his child's body, they could have been miles away.

❝Pay for your transgressions with your life, worm.❞

Masayoshi bore witness to ghostly figures rising out of the ground, and if he weren't so utterly terrified at this sudden shift in power, he might have praised his son.

But the time for that was long, long past.

He closed his eyes, and instead of a quick death, was subjected to an agonizing last few moments of life. Izanami, with a wave of his hand, crushed him to death with a barrage of ghosts, starting at his feet and going upwards in order to draw this torment out as long as possible.

With the brutal death of his father, Rin Inoue left the crypt, ignoring the streaks of crimson which painted his body. His personality had fragmented, separating most of the combat expertise under the persona of Izanami and retaining the more human side under Rin Inoue. Constant oppression by his ex-Pro Hero of a father had turned his ideals, dissolving whatever faith he had in Heroes.

Putting his training to use, he abandoned the path laid out by his father and instead,

strode down the road to villainy all too eagerly.

Japanese Name: よみ
Rōmaji Name: Yomi Bira Zaka
Quirk Type: Emitter
Quirk Range: Close-Range to Medium-Range

Description:

Rin Inoue is able to summon ghostly figures and wraiths which can be applied in different ways. Most common is when he sends these screaming apparitions at his foes, creating explosions that do not affect inorganic matter. People will find themselves flung back, recoiling as if struck yet displaying no injuries aside from bruises or possible broken bones. His ghosts are able to travel up to two hundred meters, but the resulting explosion will be negligible. At closer ranges, will they be larger.

They also have the added effect of neutralizing Quirks that it comes in contact with, negating them. Simply being struck directly with a ghost is enough to stop a Quirk user from being able to manifest their abilities for a period of time.

These ghosts are unimpeded by physical barriers, able to travel through walls, the ground and fly where they wish. He can choose to have them fly where he wishes, or they can independently track targets if he wills it.

At close ranges, their explosions will be large. The blasts are unique as they do not release flames nor shrapnel, but instead they emit high-pitched discordant screams and a powerful shockwave that can heavily damage nearby organic matter. Those who have heard the wails and been struck by the blasts have called the experience 'unsettling' and 'simply not right'.

His ability to manifest more ghosts is based on how much death and destruction has been wrought in the area, and whether there are places like graveyards or morgues nearby. His eyes turn a vivid red when this Quirk is activated, and his personality usually shifts as well. He's able to control the explosion radius of his ghosts to avoid harming himself should he stray too close to one.

Usage:

Rin is a powerhouse whose effectiveness is determined by how much he knows about his foes. Due to the fact that his ghosts are able to independently track targets through walls and even floors, this makes him extremely dangerous in confined situations.

He typically releases these ghosts as hounds, tracking down enemies before working on flushing them out. At base stats, he has a stock of three ghosts and regenerates a ghost every ten seconds. While in an area where people have died, or there is conflict going on, he can gain an amount proportional to the havoc wreaked.

His imagination also plays a factor into his powers, allowing him to wreathe his fists with the spirits and transform already hard punches into destructive anti-biological blasts.

At graveyards where dozens or hundreds could have been interred, he is easily able to overwhelm even teams of Pro Heroes with wave after wave of Quirk-neutralizing explosions.

His ghosts are able to neutralize other Quirks on contact, allowing him to form a shield of ghosts that protect him from incoming blows or projectiles that originated Quirks. Should someone be struck directly by a ghost (not the shockwave), it renders their Quirk unable to be used for a brief period of time.

Named Super Moves:

Pillar of Obliteration

Clapping his hands together, Rin uses two ghosts to sandwich his foes from below and from above. This can have lethal consequences if he wills it, as the resulting twin explosions are more than likely to shred apart any organic matter unlucky enough to be caught between the ghosts.

Personalities

Rin Inoue

Rin is a surprisingly compassionate person, often giving his foes a single chance to flee. With pride being a strong factor into his personality, he chooses to confront challengers head on if called, if only to make a demonstration with their ruined corpses.

He is a soft-spoken young man with an immense distaste for heroes, seeking to snuff out their influence on the world with his Quirk.

When around those he trusts, he shows a more gentle side that is likely to never be seen by others outside of his circle. He can be described as a regal king, hearing the worries of the people and quelling their woes with reassuring words. The very archetype of an older brother figure, he is driven to rage the moment that one of his friends is harmed.

Though he seems to have his own code of honor, he is not above using underhanded methods in order to win fights. Though it wounds his immense pride to do such cowardly things, he realizes the importance of victory and would do anything to grasp it, especially if it meant more to his allies.

Izanami

Cruel. Cold. Calculating.

Whereas Rin is the compassionate one who must perform evil for the good of society, Izanami is the callous psychopath who delivers pain and suffering unto both innocent bystander and target alike.

Rin's shift into Izanami can easily be detected when his eyes turn a most malefic red and the usage of his Quirk Yomotsuhirasaka gets more skilled.

Izanami enjoys drawing out the screams and terror of his victims, often delivering nearly fatal blows to his prey and waiting until unwary reinforcements show up to strike yet again. He can be likened to a masterful tactician, watching scenarios from many different points of view in order to best formulate a plan that would cause the absolute maximum damage possible.

His view on his allies is degrading, believing them to be valuable pawns (but pawns nonetheless) to his end goal of the extermination of heroes.

If it would be beneficial to leave an ally behind, he most certainly would, recognizing people not by names but by value to his plans.

Izanami has an immense ego that is easily hurt, but depending on who he is facing, vengeance could come in the form of a long plot drawn out over months or even years of time, or in a sudden wave of ghastly wraiths. Simply believing oneself to be equal to him would make him grit his teeth in rage, and make one subject to a barrage of insults or underhanded comments.
